Ibn Abbas (RA) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ asked Umm Sinan, an Ansari woman:

“What prevented you from performing Hajj with us?”

She replied, “The father of so-and-so, meaning my husband, had two camels used for carrying water. He and our son went for Hajj with one of them, while our servant used the other to bring water for us.”

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said:

“Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to Hajj, or he said, equal to performing Hajj with me.”

[Sahih Muslim: 2909]

This Hadith highlights the special virtue of performing Umrah during Ramadan. It is a unique opportunity to combine the blessings of Ramadan with the worship of Umrah, seeking Allah’s mercy, forgiveness, and reward.

For those who are able to make the journey, Ramadan can be a particularly meaningful time to visit the Sacred Mosque, spend time in worship, and renew one’s connection with Allah.

May Allah grant us the opportunity to perform Umrah with sincerity and accept our worship. Ameen.
