Who does not love the Kaaba, the beloved House of Allah? Many people can sit for hours simply looking at it, feeling a peace that is difficult to put into words.

But did you know that there will come a time when the Kaaba will be taken away?

For this reason, the Prophet īˇē encouraged us not to delay Hajj and Umrah when we have the means to perform them. He īˇē said:

“Take advantage of this House by performing Hajj and Umrah, for it has been destroyed twice before, and after the third time, it will be taken away.”

[Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah: 2506; Sahih Ibn Hibban: 6718]

Hajj is not an opportunity we should take for granted. When Allah grants a person the health, financial means, and ability to perform Hajj, delaying it without a valid reason is a serious matter.

Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) is reported to have said:

“Whoever has the ability to perform Hajj but does not do so, it makes no difference to Allah whether he dies as a Jew or a Christian.”

[Tafsir Ibn Kathir, 1/578]

For many of us, visiting the Kaaba is a lifelong dream. We may keep telling ourselves, “I will go next year,” while waiting for the perfect time. But the opportunity to perform Hajj is a blessing from Allah, and none of us knows how long that opportunity will remain.

If Allah has given you the ability to perform Hajj, do not take that blessing lightly. Prepare your heart, make your arrangements, and ask Allah to invite you to His House.
