Hajj

How many types of Hajj are there, and what are they?

There are three types, namely:

  1. Tamattu‘

  2. Qiran

  3. Ifrad

First, ‘Tamattu‘’ means performing ‘Umrah first during the Hajj season, exiting the state of ihram, changing out of the ihram garments, and resuming normal life. A few days later, one enters ihram again from Makkah and performs the rites of Hajj.

Second, ‘Qiran’ means not exiting the state of ihram between ‘Umrah and Hajj and not removing the ihram garments. Hajj is then performed in the same ihram.

Third, ‘Ifrad’ means performing Hajj only, without performing ‘Umrah.
