Du‘a to recite in times of sorrow and anxiety
O Allah! I am Your servant, the son of Your male servant and the son of Your female servant. My forelock is in Your hand; Your command over me is forever executed; Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that belongs to You—with which You have named Yourself, or which You have revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or preserved for Yourself in Your knowledge of the unseen—to make the Qur’an the delight of my heart, the light of my chest, the remover of my sorrow, and the reliever of my anxiety. --- O Allah! Indeed, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from incapacity and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from the burden of debt and the oppression of people.

Various Du‘as of the Janazah Prayer
(1) “O Allah! Forgive him, have mercy on him, keep him in complete safety, and pardon him. Make his hospitality honourable and make his place of entry—the grave—spacious. Wash him with water, snow and hail, and cleanse him of sins as You have cleansed a white garment of dirt. Grant him a better home in place of his home, a better family in place of his family, and a better spouse than his spouse. Admit him into Paradise and protect him from the punishment of the grave [and the punishment of Hell].” (2) “O Allah! Forgive our living and our dead, those present and those absent, our young and our old, and our males and females. O Allah! Whomever among us You keep alive, keep them alive upon Islam; and whomever You cause to die, cause them to die with faith. O Allah! Do not deprive us of the reward for patiently enduring his death, and do not lead us astray after his death.” (3) “O Allah, so-and-so, son of so-and-so, is under Your protection and in the security of Your guardianship; so protect him from the trial of the grave and the punishment of Hell. You are the Fulfiller of promises and the Possessor of absolute truth. Therefore, forgive him and have mercy on him. Indeed, You are Forgiving, Merciful.” (4) “O Allah, he is one of Your servants and the son of one of Your female servants. He is in need of Your grace, while You have no need to punish him. If he is a righteous servant, then increase his reward further; and if he is an evildoing servant, then overlook his misdeeds.”

(1) “O Allah! Protect this child from the punishment of the grave.” “O Allah, accept this child as a forerunner for his parents, or as a reward and a carefully preserved treasure of reward. Make this child an intercessor whose intercession is accepted. O Allah, through this child, make his parents’ scales heavier and increase the reward of both of them. Make this child a companion of the righteous and place this child under the care of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). By means of Your mercy, protect this child from the punishment of Hell. Grant this child a better abode in place of this abode and a better family in place of the family here. O Allah, forgive the men, women, and minor children who have gone before us, as well as those who died before us with faith.” (2) “O Allah, appoint this child for us as a forerunner, a reward sent ahead, and a source of reward.”
