What to Do During Ayyam al-Tashriq, or the Days of Tashriq

1 min readLast updated September 11, 2026

These days are days of worship and remembrance, as well as days of joy and merriment. As mentioned earlier, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “The Days of Tashreeq are days of eating, drinking, and remembering Allah.” During these days, one should express gratitude to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and remember Him by enjoying the blessings He has bestowed. Several ways of remembering Allah are mentioned in the hadith:

(1) Reciting the takbeer after the prayer, as well as reciting it regularly at other times. By reciting this takbeer, we affirm that these days are days for remembering Allah. This remembrance is prescribed for both the Hajj pilgrims and those who are not performing Hajj.

(2) Pronouncing the name of Allah Most High and reciting the takbeer when slaughtering the sacrificial animals and the animals offered during Hajj.

(3) Remembering Allah Most High at the beginning and end of eating and drinking. Although this is prescribed at all times, it is given greater importance during these days. Likewise, one should be diligent in all acts related to Hajj and in the remembrances of the morning and evening.

(4) Reciting the takbeer of Allah when throwing the pebbles during Hajj.

(5) In addition to these, remembering Allah at any time and in every circumstance.
