Drink Zamzam water while facing the qiblah and mentioning the name of Allah. The prescribed manner is to drink it in three breaths and to drink one’s fill. After finishing, praise Allah. Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said,
“When you drink Zamzam water, face the qiblah, remember Allah, and take three breaths. Drink your fill of it, and when you finish, praise Allah Almighty. For the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: The difference between us and the hypocrites is that the hypocrites do not drink their fill of Zamzam water.”[1]
Before drinking Zamzam water, Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) would recite this supplication,
“O Allah! I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from every illness.”[2] After drinking the water, pour some of it over your head as well, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to do so.[3]
Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said,
“Then he returned and touched the Rukn (the Black Stone). Thereafter, he proceeded toward Safa.”[4]
