Zamzam water is the best water: It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
«خَيْرُ مَاءٍ عَلَى وَجْهِ الأَرْضِ مَاءُ زَمْزَمَ»
‘Zamzam water is the best water on the face of the earth.’[1]
Zamzam water is blessed: Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
«إِنَّهَا مُبَارَكَةٌ»
‘Indeed, it is blessed.’[2]
Zamzam water contains nourishment: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
«طَعَامُ طُعْمٍ إِنَّهَا مُبَارَكَةٌ»
‘Indeed, it is blessed and full of nourishment.’
A cure for illness: It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
«إِنَّهَا مُبَارَكَةٌ، طَعَامُ طُعْمٍٍٍ وَشِفَاءُ سُقْمٍٍ»
‘Indeed, it is nourishing food and a cure for illness.’[3]
The purpose for which Zamzam water is drunk is fulfilled: It is narrated from Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
«مَاءُ زَمْزَمَ لِمَا شُرِبَ لَهُ»
‘Whatever purpose Zamzam water is drunk for will be fulfilled.’[4]
Zamzam water is the most precious gift: Since ancient times, pilgrims have carried Zamzam water home with them.
عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، «أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْمِلُ مِنْ مَاءِ زَمْزَمَ وَتُخْبِرُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَحْمِلُهُ»
‘It is narrated from Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she used to carry Zamzam water and would say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also used to carry it.’[5]
