The Virtue of Throwing Pebbles at the Jamarat
1. The reward for throwing pebbles will be stored up for the Hereafter. It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
‘As for your throwing of pebbles, it is stored up for you.’[1]
2. The reward for throwing pebbles will be a delight to the eyes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
‘As for throwing stones at the Jamarah, the following statement of Allah Almighty applies to it: “No soul knows what delights of the eyes have been kept hidden for them as a reward for what they used to do.”’[2],[3]
3. Each pebble thrown will expiate one major sin.
‘As for your throwing pebbles at the Jamarah, for each pebble you throw, one destructive major sin will be expiated.’[4]
4. Each pebble thrown will be a light on the Day of Resurrection. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,
‘When you throw pebbles, they will be a light for you on the Day of Resurrection.’[5]
